Catechists
Kathy Skinner - Kathy.skinner@ctk.org
Catechists are those who “echo” their faith to others. At Christ the King we have many opportunities for catechists. We need teens and adults who are willing to share their faith and guide the young children of our community. Catechists are needed for our preschool and grade school PREP classes. Each year we also need catechists to help with vacation bible school. For information on becoming a catechist, please contact Kathy Skinner at the above email address. |

Contemplative Prayer Groups / Scripture Class
Carolyn Goddard - carolyndgoddard@gmail.com
- A centering prayer support group meets in the Community Room every Friday morning from 8-8:30 AM. On the first Friday of every month, we extend our time together by reflection on materials put out by Contemplative Outreach. All are welcome to attend. Material can be reviewed on Contemplative Outreach's website - www.centeringprayer.com
- A lectio divina support group meets in the Community Room every Monday morning from 8-9 AM. On the third Monday of every month, we extend our time together by having coffee at Frothy Monkey. All are welcome to read, reflect, respond and rest in the word of God. We choose passages from the lectionary for the upcoming Sunday.
- Journey through Scripture meets most every Wednesday evening in the Community Room. When the 6:30 PM dinner is being served, we meet immediately after the parish supper. When dinner is not being served, we meet after the 6 PM Wednesday evening Mass. The group chooses which books in the Bible we will study. We end each session with evening prayer.

PREP - Parish Religious Education Program - Preschool through 8th Grade
Kathy Skinner - 292-2994 x 302 - kathy.skinner@ctk.org
PREP is our parish religious education program led by volunteer catechists as stewards of faith. We offer classes on Sunday mornings in the school building during the typical school year.
Preschool classes are offered for children ages 3-5 during the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m liturgies. Their sessions revolve around scripture stories, using other activities as a reinforcement of the story. Registration for these sessions is required.
Children in grades K-8 meet between our two Masses, from 9:45-10:45 a.m. These classes have specific goals and objectives, using the Call to Faith curriculum as their primary resource. Children also prepare for sacraments during that time, after studying the required curriculum and participating in the class' activities. While the sacraments are typically celebrated in second and eighth grade, a timeline for each child is determined by the Director.
To register for classes or find out more information, please contact Kathy Skinner in the parish office.

Vacation Bible School
Kathy Skinner - 292-2884 x 302 - kathy.skinner@ctk.org
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is offered each morning for one week each summer, normally the third week of July. VBS is a festive time for young children as well as our teen and adult leaders. Each year has a specific theme and the events revolve around that theme. Each day's activities include crafts, drama, games, snacks, video and music. We also have a parent night to show off all we learn. Watch for registration information in the spring church bulletin and the school newsletter. Make plans now to be a leader and join the fun!
We are always looking for people who have special talents in building and decorating. If you can help us prepare our set for VBS, please contact our Director of Children and Youth Formation, Kathy Skinner at the contact information above.

Why Catholic?
Valerie Cooper - valerie.cooper@belmont.edu
Whether you inherited your Catholic faith or chose it, Why Catholic is for you. This is a program designed around small communities where together you can explore the depths of your faith in your everyday life.
Why Catholic is an easy-to-use-tool produced by RENEW, International for individuals and/or small faith sharing communities to reference, read, pray over and treasure the rich resources of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. By using these materials, it is hoped that participants will study the Catechism in greater depth, internalize its teachings, share faith in Jesus Christ, and learn more about their faith. There are two six week sessions each year – one at lent and one in the fall.
We are about to begin our 4th year with the book Christian Prayer, Deepening my Experience of God. Meetings resume the week of October 2 and continue for the next six weeks.
Forming a Small Community
Small communities or faith sharing groups can meet at any time and are encouraged as a way to connect with others in our parish. We are in need of parishioners who would be willing to facilitate new groups. If you are interested in leading a group, there are many good websites to help you get started. One particularly useful one is Life After Sunday. Quoting from their website: “If you find a leadership role a little daunting, it is good to remember that Christ – not you - will be in charge of your groups movement toward a more passionate life and love in union with his Father ’for where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them’ (Matthew 18:20) and you will look back in amazement on how and why you have been placed in each other’s lives”.
Why Catholic groups and individual participants may find this Online Catechism of the Catholic Church to be a useful resource.
Please contact Valerie Cooper (see information above) about the Why Catholic program or your interest in leading or joining a small community.

An Invitation to Return to the Catholic Church
Nancy Rohling - 292-2884 - wemissyou@ctk.org

Our goal is to accompany one another and help one another take the next step in each person’s spiritual journey. You’re a member of our church family and we have missed you.
