Feast of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, 2011
Dear Friends,
The Lord's kindness to us is seen not only in the change of the seasons, but in all that we as a community have accomplished this year. We have completed a most ambitious project which benefits our children and our parish: a multipurpose athletic facility, comfortable accommodations for our Room in the Inn guests, an outdoor basketball court for community and our neighbors, gathering spaces for our parish community and larger and better-equipped classrooms for our older students. Presently, we are planting an arboretum with an extensive variety of trees and vegetation around the property. And all this in the past year. Non nobis domine non nobis sed nomini tuo da gloriam. (Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to your name give the glory.)
In the fall of each year, I invite all who call Christ the King home to participate more fully in the life of our community. Our participation in and support of the parish ensure that the work of the gospel is accomplished through us. Our differing talents and gifts help us provide not only for our own at Christ the King, but also for those who come to us from outside our parish family. There are as many ways to participate as there are gifts among us. One might consider, for example, serving as a catechist or catechist helper for our young people, or helping with Room in the Inn or joining the Knights of Columbus and helping with the good works they do all year round for Christ the King and for the Church universal. The Women's Council is a wonderfully active group on whose support the parish relies. And simply agreeing to bring forward the gifts at Mass or to help with the collection or to serve as a greeter or usher is a significant contribution to our parish life.
Beginning this weekend, I ask that you give some thought to the gifts you have been given, and how you might return some portion of those gifts in thanksgiving to God and in service to all those who come to Christ the King Parish to see Christ. It is my hope that many will find some ministry which suits their time and talents.
Please spend some time here on our website and explore all that is happening here at Christ the King.
In Jesus' mercy,

Reverend Dexter Sutton Brewer
Pastor
