February 3: FRHS band to perform; blessing of throats and Benediction

First Grade News:

• Catholic Schools Week begins this Sunday. Please read the schedule of events for Catholic Schools Week in the Raider Review. This promises to be an AWESOME week!

• Please remember that president projects are due Tuesday! Late projects will be dropped a letter grade.

• Any child who brings in a canned food good Monday will receive an out of uniform pass to be redeemed on Friday, February 3.

• Wednesday is pajama day. Students may wear pajamas all day long! Please send in tennis shoes for recess. Wednesday is also our collections/hobby fair. If your child would like to share their collection please send it in. They will be on display in the cafeteria.

• Friday there will be a math test over money and time.

• Due to our busy week we will not have a spelling test or have AR test due! 

• Please continue to drill addition and subtraction facts for quick recall.

Curriculum for next week:

Reading: fantasy, plot, reading for comprehension, fluency
Phonics: closed syllables (words only have 1 vowel followed by 1 or more consonants)
English: Adjectives
Math: time to half hour, elapsed time, estimated time, counting coins
          Test Friday
Religion: Catholic Schools Week activities
Science: solids, liquids, and gases
Social studies: presidents; Washington and Lincoln studied
                       Projects due Tuesday
