Dear Parents,
We are very excited to have your student in class this year. We look forward to a fun-filled year of meaningful learning. Seventh grade is a time of change for the students, both academically and developmentally. This vulnerable period is a time when respect for self and others as well as the achievement of responsibility is extremely important. Seventh grade is a time to prepare for the responsibilities of high school and the more long term goal of life-long learning. While guidance and supervision will be provided, our expectation for the students this year will be one of responsibility in the classroom. With this in mind, homework and grading procedures will reflect a student’s ability to come to class prepared and follow classroom policies and procedures set at the beginning of the year. Our guiding principal for the classroom this year will be “Respect and Responsibility”. This will not only reflect the above mentioned expectations for school work, but the manner in which the classroom atmosphere is created. Our expectations are to create a classroom environment where all students feel comfortable and safe to express their ideas and opinions. This respect for others is especially important as students begin to grow and change at different levels. An understanding and respect for differences is vital to form a positive learning environment. Our classroom rules will be listed on the Seventh grade website along with policies and procedures. These rules were created as a result of a collaborative effort as the students brainstormed about what classroom rules would be necessary to create a positive learning environment. Our expectations for conduct follow along with my expectations for the students concerning responsibility. Students will be given conduct grades based on their actions throughout the school day; this includes special classes. Please see the 2008 Junior High Behavior Plan. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email or call. We will return communication as soon as possible, email is preferable. For any immediate needs, please call the front office. We look forward to an enjoyable year! Sincerely, Gina Ragghianti St. Charles & Margaret Pyburn |
