I am very excited about this year at Christ the King and look forward to working with the students.  We will be learning about art through hands-on projects that explore a variety of media, skills, and techniques; looking at art and developing a vocabulary for discussion; viewing and discussing art in the context of different times and places throughout history; and cultivating students’ abilities to further their own visual self-expression.

Student grades are based on participation. Rubrics measuring student understanding and incorporation of material studied, as well as skill and effort, ensure that students know what is expected for each project. Projects will often take more than one class period to complete. A daily grade reflects student effort. It is not necessary for a student to answer questions verbally or show leadership in class discussion to get a good daily grade. Daily grade may be affected by student conduct, depending on the situation.

I will be looking for opportunities for students to exhibit art in the community outside of school (especially the older grades), so please let me know if you have any contacts for venues.  In addition, I will be investigating guest presenters from various art-related fields and developing art-related service projects where students can use visual art to positively impact the lives of others.

I will be at school on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays and would be glad to meet you and address any questions or concerns you may have.  Please contact me by email or phone message to set up an appointment.
