![]() Educational Testing ThroughMetropolitan Nashville Public SchoolsTesting for Gifted and Talented is available at no cost through Metro schools. There are procedures that must be followed to use this service and the process takes anywhere from 4-8 weeks from beginning to end. There is no testing available over the summer months. Steps to obtaining certification through Metro: 1. Request a certification packet by calling the Private School Liaison for MNPS, at (615) 298-2294 ext. 132, or try 298-2172 ext. 2501. If you reach voicemail, leave your name, address, phone number, and school name. A packet will be mailed to you within 2-5 work days. 2. When you receive the packet, fill out and mail back to the address provided. 3. The Private School Liaison will mail your completed packet to the public school for which your home address is zoned. For example, if you live in the Green Hills area, your packet would be sent to Glendale or Julia Green Elementary. 4. The school counselor and school psychologist at your zoned school will contact you to make an appointment for a Student Support (or “S”) Team meeting. Parents and any of your child’s teachers will be invited to participate in the S-Team meeting at the zoned school. 5. After meeting with the school counselor and psychologist, your child will be scheduled for testing. By law, the school must test your child and meet with you to discuss results within 40 days of the original S-Team meeting. 6. Finally, you will meet again with the school counselor & psychologist to go over the results of your child’s test. If your child’s test scores indicate that he/she would benefit from Gifted/Enriched school services, please notify Gerrilu Linton, Enrichment Instructor at Christ the King School. If parents would like for their child to receive Enrichment services, a meeting will be scheduled at CKS between Mrs. Linton, Dr. Gebhardt, your child’s homeroom teacher, and parents. At this meeting, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) will be developed to best meet the educational needs of the student. Contact Gerrilu Linton at 467-1040 vm or gerrilu.linton@ctk.org if you have further questions. |
