August 12, 2010 2nd Grade Parents, Welcome back to school. Hope all of you had a wonderful summer. This year in music we will be building on our love for singing. The class will study the dance form, ballet, through the use of the Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky. We will be learning to recognize the music in the composition. We will also be learning to recognize more of the instruments that are found in the orchestra. We will learn some basic music theory this year. We will learn new songs to sing at church, their song to sing at First Communion and many new fun songs. Grading again will be E, G, S, N, U. The only thing that will affect your child’s grade will be their willingness to participate during class and at performances. I am only at school on Wednesday and Thursday of each week. Second grade has music on Wednesdays. K-4 will perform one song together at Grandparents’ Day and will participate in the Christmas Pageant. I will send home information later in the year concerning these performances. This information will also be posted on my webpage. I want to continue to instill in these students a love for music that will stay with them throughout their lives. If you ever have any questions, please contact me at betty.marina@ctk.org and I will get right back to you. I am looking forward to a great school year. Sincerely, Betty Marina return to Music home |
