The objective of the Bereavement Support Group is to provide "comfort food" in times of need. The Group is organized into teams, with each team captain contacting his/her group members and organizing the necessary menu. Requests are rotated among the teams so all members have a chance to participate. Meals are delivered either to the church or to the parishioner's home. Haiti Twin Parish
Dave Kuhlman - d-dkuhlman@comcast.net
Christ the King Parish is twinned with two parishes in northeast Haiti: Our Lady of Grace (Nortre Dame d' Altagrace) in Roche-Plate and Our Lady of Sorrows (Notre Dame des Doleurs) in Pilette. Pere Ernst Dorcin (Father Joseph), pastor of both parishes, visited Christ the King Church in the latter part of 2009.
The purpose of the Parish Twinning Program of the Americas is to match parishes in the USA to parishes in need in Haiti. In addition to collecting donations through our parish’s envelope collections, we also have organized a group of interested people who wish to do more in the way of supporting our twin parishes. We meet periodically as announced in the church bulletin to discuss our efforts, to keep the CTK parish informed, and to plan future activities. Currently, we are organizing a mission trip to Haiti to learn firsthand about needs as well as planning a Haitian Creole language class and a class in the history and culture of Haiti. Additionally, we periodically collect and ship to Haiti needed items using the PTPA Sea Container Program.
While we are organized to help our brothers and sisters in Haiti, we know that we - as a parish community - benefit from this effort, too. We believe that efforts like this truly reflect God's will for us. As we read in Micah from the Old Testament: "What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8).

Janet Morgan - johnlmorgan@comcast.net
Mission Statement: Christ the King’s Respect Life Committee works in conjunction with our pastor and the Diocese and believes that every life is a great gift from God to be honored, respected and protected. It will help meet the needs of those who are most vulnerable, especially that of the unborn. It will educate and foster awareness of the need to restore legal protection to the lives of unborn children, those who are chronically ill, disabled or dying. It works to support pro-life agencies (Caring Choices of Catholic Charities and Hope Clinic for Women) and to pray for the respect and sanctity of every human life.

Safe Environment Program
All parishes and institutions of the Diocese of Nashville participate in the diocesan Safe Environment program, as mandated by the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People promulgated by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Our parish and school join the diocesan effort in creating and maintaining a safe environment for all children and young people in our care. Measures include a detailed code of conduct for ministers, employees, and volunteers, and clear policies on responding to allegations of abuse or misconduct. All employees and volunteers who have regular or ongoing contact with children and youth are required to complete training on signs of abuse and on the required actions to be taken when such signs are observed. This includes how to comply with legal requirements for reporting suspected abuse to the appropriate civil authorities. The diocese also employs a curriculum for use with children and youth that provides age-appropriate treatments of safety and personal well-being, fully in line with Catholic teaching. Please visit the diocesan Safe Environment webpage for a comprehensive listing of policies and resources, or contact the parish Safe Environment coordinator, Don Boehm, for further information.
